Original music to set a tone, evoke a feeling, or create a new experience.
Multidimensional composer/producer Austin Carson is one of the most unique talents available for producing engaging original music for general-interest videos, documentaries, advertising, corporate media, short films, or animations.
As a St. Paul-based artist, Austin is a genre-blurring, experimental pop artist bent on delivering a previously unheard sonic experience. With extensive experience scoring for TV producers and independent filmmakers—and three regional Emmy nominations to his name—Austin understands the art of crafting soundtracks that resonate with audiences and bring stories to life. Some of his latest work includes scores for a Netflix program, PBS documentaries, and an experimental art-house film.
After studying music in college, Austin became involved in a number of collaborative projects writing music as diverse as surf rock to a Christmas album of new standards. And now, when he’s not working on commissioned projects, Austin is songwriting and performing as YYY. One of the first YYY projects was to deconstruct and re-imagine the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds album, giving it an edgy, synthesized sound. Collaborating with a diverse group of singers, the album was released to enthusiastic reviews.
Austin, as YYY, released an album of original music, ‘aquadungeonafterdark.’ The self-produced album blends different genres in an organic way, creating a singular sound. Melodic hooks reward the listener with something new to discover from one song to the next. Reviews from critics are praising the album’s unique sound and stylistic approach of genre diversification.
